Edit: You can now see the banner on the fansite!

Follow the misadventures of a video game-charged super hero! This comic ranges from direct parodies to discussions of games to actual storyline arcs. I hope it's to everybody's liking!

To appreciate the humor even more, it is suggested that readers also look at my story Captain Gamer: Digital Defender. That way you can get a better idea of the Captain Gamer world!

Edit: Now you can see the archives on the fansite!

Okay. And is there an actual plot or you just wanted to throw your character in one-strip visits of various games? ._.

Minor edits are better than nothing, but a little cohesion would be nice. Do any of these strips relate in anyway?

Edit: And it seems Iris beat me to it...

I certainly like the look of this comic, but the concept reminds me of Captain N, the Game Master. <shudders>

Still this could be a good start.

I suppose I should get into more detail with how this comic works.

What you see is an assortment of game parodies. I went back and forth between using the original character sprites and using Captain Gamer edits, and decided that in the end, using Captain Gamer edits would allow me to mock the games even further without them being misinterpreted as mocking the individual characters.

What does it mean? It could be Captain Gamer visiting the game universes, or it could be a perception. Often in gaming comics when people play games, the playable character is represented by the player in the character's clothes. In this case, it's quite the opposite.

However, These are the first comics in which I was just seeing if I could sprite properly and still be funny after my first hundred comics of recolors and author power wars. Starting with the next strip, in fact, we shall see an actual storyline. Right now, the comics you see are quick one-shot parodies for a cheap laugh.

I'd say the strip picks up in the coming strips when Captain Gamer exists not just as the edit of a character, but his own person with his own personality.

Ahhh, the highly anticipated comparison. I have a huge shpeal on this topic in the FAQs section of the site.

Well, I'll see when you start the actual storyline.

Well even though, there isn't a story yet. The presentation looks real good (to my eye anyway).

To say that this comic will have a constant storyline, considering what I have planned for it, wouldn't really be true. I'd say that the readers would have to look forward to a comic that consists of more like "episodes" with filler material of game parodies and gaming discussion peppered between.

I suppose starting out with so many fillers wasn't so good of an idea, but what's done is done. On a better note, I've updated the site and now the actual first "episode" is beginning.

You may see strip 11 and wonder how it's any different, but consider how Gamer and Mario are now two different personalities. Sure, Gamer is in attire similar to Mario's, but I have a theory going that all human males who are in the Mushroom Kingdom kind of "have" to wear that attire in their own colors. That and trying to make Gamer from Mario was proving maddening.

Strip 12, I'll admit, is a bit silly for some tastes. I stand by the humor, though. Rest assured that this strip DOES have relevance.

Once you read the entire update, you'll understand where I've been going the entire time.

I hope everything proves to be more interesting, now! :D

Well the random one-shots in various video game lands really wasn't that interesting, but your comic presentation is alright. Some of the sprites you used for your Cpt. Gamer character could have been better designed though.

I'm looking forward to when you get your story going, CG.

#16-Where are you? Either Japan or possibly Fanboy Heaven. <sparkly eyes>

The random game comics were on the dull side, but this Kasugano storyline seems like fun.

REALLY? :? I know that the one-shot stuff isn't plot-driven and more depends on getting a laugh out of the reader, but is it really so dull? I would have thought that at least the Mega Man strip would be worth SOMEthing.

Hrm... well, I guess it's good I've moved on to plot-based stuff for now, but when I go through a transition period between plots, I'll take another crack at the one-shot parodies and see if I can get my act together on that. I already have a bunch of ideas set up and I think they're better than what I've offered so far in terms of the first ten strips. >.> It'll be a bit before that happens, though. We'll be stuck in the realm of school girl zaniness some more.

I thought some of the plotless ones were funny.

But a little humor won't nessecarily make something interesting (and not dull) to read.

I was fine with it though.

I like this comic pretty much in fact. There are some funny plots and... Well done minor edits. Least not any poor recolors.

Hmm. After reading through, I find it relatively
amusing. Nothing guffaw-worthy, but not much is
to begin with.

The edits of the various characters in the Gamer
fellow are rather clever. The one-shot idea
seems to be the most amusing, and would
probably be the best for the comic as a whole.

You can pursue a kind of plot if you like,
but I personally found the one-shots to be the
funniest.

Update! With introductions, rambling exposition, and a smack in the back of the head.

School girls are scary.

Heh, I just noticed this. It would be a REAL Fanboy Heaven if those schoolgirls were all Anzu, am I right?

Newest update powers gogo!

#18 - Dropping a Bombshell

I'm running things different now. Instead of saying "Go to my website!" I'll post a direct link like most people do, and keep a collection of all strips in the first post. That way, easy access.

Okie-dokie.

#19 - Vacation Time!

And if anybody actually goes to the GamerHang and reads Captain Gamer: Digital Defender, it's worth mentioning I have made major edits to the first and second chapters that have added segments to the story, even characters.

I do wonder if I pulled off the effect in the final panel any good? I wanted the background to just abruptly change to something arctic for effect. A lot of people have told me they don't see it.

The *AWKWARD SILENCE* in the background is based off the fact that when I am part of or near an awkward silence, I just up and say in a raised voice, "AWKWARD SILENCE." That breaks it up most of the time.

A very nice comic. Looks origonal enough, fairly good edits, and I could still understand the jokes, even though I havnt played half those games. I'll definitly keep reading.

And yeah, the last panel in the comic was good ^o^

I like the Background for the last panel, it gives a little more depth to the akwardness of the silence, this comic seems pretty decent so far, the edits are fairly well done, the characters move while talking, and there is some decent elements of humor.

as a side note, if you want people to comment on your writing part you might want to post it in the fan fiction section, so forum-peoples can access it more readily and comment on it.

SHORYUKEN!!!

#20 - A Street Fight to End Street Fights

Fairly warned, be ye. #21 shall be a fight comic, but I worked on it with the guys over at Neko's House, so it'll be as non-dull as possible!

Ah Sakura. As irrepressable as always.

Not the best, not the worst. If I could shake the feeling that the entire production is just too random I could settle in and enjoy this.
