For new readers:
Otaku Revolution: The Strip (or OR:TS) is loosely based upon the message board community of Otaku Revolution (12/14/00-4/4/07). Although the board at OR.net went belly-up, I've continued the series nonetheless, and even acquired the OR.net domain for my current host. The strip launched in November 2001. At the very beginning, it was very Bob and George-like, complete with my character acting Author-like, but for the sake of drama, that was later retconned as a delusion implanted by an evil demon. That, and I realized that godmoding my character made my spinoff plans rather pointless.
The world of OR:TS is geographically different from the real Earth, and has incorporated other, related communities as major cities or nation-states. Even the BnG community has been referenced as "Hub City" (much like Boston has been referred to as the "Hub of the Universe", the BnG community is still the hub of all BnG-inspired comics). Since OR had strong ties to the Dragon Ball online community (the
Temple O' Trunks and the late Big Bang Attack, Planet Namek, and Unrivaled communities all played a role in OR's creation), there are strong DB references, such as characters emulating Super Saiyan-like abilities, Capsule technology, and the presence of Cell - specifically,
Drunken Cell. There are plenty of other anime references as well - my character started out dressing like the title character of
The Irresponsible Captain Tylor, but later dressed more like
G Gundam's Kyoji Kasshu (and there's even a Schwarz Bruder - with a far more convoluted origin than the original character's).
Otaku Revolution 2015 (launched in 2002, but spent several years in hiatus after strip #0019) takes place in a timeline created as the result of my character's supposed death; instead, he's blasted into a dark future, where the world has survived a great war, and the former city of Otaku Revolution is now the seat of an empire that covers nearly half the globe - an empire that has been corrupted from within.
Ultimately, my character makes it back in time, and is able to manipulate events to prevent the tragedy that sparked the war, resulting in the current "regular" timeline of OR:TS. This is probably why I've ended up sidelining him for much of the 2015 timeline - there's little drama in a character who you know is going to make it.

About the original Otaku Revolution community:
Founded by members of the Big Bang Attack, Planet Namek and Unrivaled message boards, Otaku Revolution lasted from December 2000 to April 2001, and again from May 2001 to April 2007. The community was temporarily kept together on an ezBoard during the 2001 gap, the result of the first host deleting the site altogether. Five of the creators of OR had their own sites: the Temple O' Trunks (Meri), Goku Central (Cat), DrunkenCell.com (Anzu), The Lunch Box (Lunch), and AnimeStories.com (Arcada); of these five, only the ToT remains online. After the host of the time deleted the site again in 2007, it was decided not to resurrect the site a second time (the forum had been in decline), although many members have retained their friendships (and a few of them have even married, for real).

Special note -
Officially Sanctioned Spinoffs:Otaku Revolution: Side Story and
Penguin Chronicles by Michael Fitz-Gibbon
Otaku Revolution: A War Story by John Canavi (formerly Sean Canavi)
I've provided resources from my strips for both projects, although I don't have any direct control over these projects. As a result, I won't be posting updates on them. I simply list these here to let people know that they're not stealing from me.
For new readers:
I do reference
some material from OR: Side Story and Penguin Chronicles in both my series, so basically when you see penguin-related stuff in my strips, it ties in with that. OR:AWS is considered canon for the 2015 timeline.

Major news updates here. (Old news updates have been deleted.)
Special acknowledgements to those who've helped with the creation of sprites for the series over the years (mostly in the first few years), and those who've permitted cameos (Psychosis' Team Spirite characters, for example, ended up becoming immigrants).
